"Helio offers a project-based and rigorous approach to software development encapsulated in the non-traditional approach to skills-based training found at coding bootcamps."
Helio Training, Salt Lake City's premier in-person and online training resource for professionals looking to further their career through developing tech skills, announces two news scholarships aimed specifically at strengthening diversity within the tech sector: the Women in Technology Scholarship and Veteran Service Scholarship.
David Preece, director of operations, explains, "These are two specific groups of talented people that we know are repeatedly underutilized. We're grateful for the service and sacrifice of our country's service women and men; and we are also keenly aware that there are not enough women in STEM careers."
Preece says Helio is currently offering a $1,000 scholarship for all active duty, reserve, and veterans of the U.S. Military for Helio Training full-time programs, and a $500 scholarship towards the part-time programs.
Each calendar year up to 10 women entering the tech industry will be awarded the Women in Technology Scholarship. Scholarships are available for $1,000 for full-time bootcamps and $500 for part-time bootcamps.
Director of Academics Dr. Thor Anderson says,
"Helio offers a project-based and rigorous approach to software development encapsulated in the non-traditional approach to skills-based training found at coding bootcamps. But the key difference is a curriculum based off of more than a decade of education in computer science and feedback from industry professionals to make the training relevant and to make the candidate immediately more marketable."
"The program is about taking professionals to the next level in their career," Anderson explains. "We hear stories all the time of employees, from entry-level to management positions, who understand that to get to the next level in their career, software development is a must. We help people improve their skillset to achieve their professional goals."
Helio Training provides a new approach to coding bootcamps and corporate training. Techies, career changers and dev teams collide in a hands-on learning environment where passionate educators with an expertise in technology work closely with industry partners to develop a curriculum that is light on theory and heavy on practical application.
Today, Helio Training offers in-person, and online training to individuals and corporations looking to develop their tech skills. Learn more at heliotraining.com
The original rainbow flag, called the Freedom Flag, was devised by Gilbert Baker in 1978. The design has undergone several revisions since its debut with 8 colored stripes, and today the most common variant consists of 6 stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.
